Shakespeare’s classic tale comes to the Mayflower in a new medium; Ballet. Brought to use by the Olivier award winning company, The Northern Ballet, the show runs from the 27th -31st May.

Northern Ballet’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by Artistic Director David Nixon OBE, sees the romantic antics of a touring dance company played out on one magical night as the company travels by sleeper train from London to Edinburgh. During the final rehearsal emotions run high as artistic temperaments clash with romantic entanglements. The time comes to leave for Edinburgh but the tensions continue on-board the train as the company settles down for the night. The train enters a tunnel and the dream begins. Brought to us with a new artistic edge and featuring live music from Mendelssohn and Brahms performed by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia.

A classic play transported to the stylish 1940 and then on through a technicolour dream world of Puck’s control takes over and brings romance and trickery.
