It has officially been confirmed that both Olivia Coleman and David Tennant are to reprise their roles for the upcoming second series of Broadchurch.

The actors that portray DS Miller and DI Hardy, respectively, will also be joined by fellow cast members Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan, the parents of the schoolboy whose murder was at the core of the first series’ plot. Arthur Darvill, the Reverend, is also said to be reclaiming his role.

Steve November, ITV’s Director of Drama, said that: “We’re delighted Broadchurch is back in production, but we’re remaining tight-lipped about how the story develops.” He then added that it is, “suffice to say Chris has delivered as always and the scripts are just as exciting as the first series.”

The upcoming season is to begin being filmed soon in Dorset, with the rest of the cast’s – Pauline Quirke, Charlotte Beaumont, Vicky McClure or Will Mellor – future in the show unknown.
