Hit HBO television series Game of Thrones is set to span over seven series, according to plans discussed by show runner David Benioff.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly Benioff commented that “If we’re going to go seven seasons, which is the plan, season four is right down the middle, the pivot point. It feels like this is the midpoint for us.

“Seven gods, seven kingdoms, seven seasons. It feels right to us,” was his main point in the discussion.”

Game of Thrones is based on George R R Martin’s hit book series, A Song of Ice and Fire. There have been rumours floating around the internet that Martin has told the show runners the main plot points of the upcoming books, given the fact that it took him five years to complete Dance of Dragons.

The HBO series features Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, Charles Dance, Emillia Clarke and Natalie Dormer.

Martin is currently in the process of writing the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, while the television series is about to embark on its forth season of the show.

Game of Thrones will return to UK television screen on 7th April on Sky Atlantic.
