Preview: Comedy at The Nuffield this Autumn

Love comedy? Well students of the University of Southampton are certainly lucky in having The Nuffield theatre in the midst of the campus. This Autumn looks set to be fantastic for comedy lovers, with a collection of fantastic comedians coming to the Nuffield. With tickets at £16 standard, or £14 concessions, this seems the perfect time to catch some big and up and coming names:

September

– Adam Hills kicks off the Autumn shows with his newest show, Happyism, straight from the Edinburgh Fringe. The host of the hilarious Last Leg, is sure to bring laughs with his anecdotal comedy, on 8th September. Some tickets are still available.

– Seann Walsh follows with his new show, The Lie-in King, on 14th September. A frequent panellist on Mock The Week, 8 out of Ten Cats and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, this looks set to be a fantastic stand up show. Plenty of tickets are still available for this show.

ardalOctober

Father Ted star Ardal O’Hanlon is coming to The Nuffield in October, for his newest stand up show. This is a fantastic opportunity to see a legend of comedy, on 13th October. Tickets still available.

– Impressionist Alistair McGowan brings his new stand up show, Not Just A Pretty Voice to the Nuffield on the 19th October. Press releases promise questions like  ‘Is Hilary Devey Jessie J’s mum?’ and ‘What are we really thinking while watching Shakespeare?’.  Tickets still available.

– Alexi Sayle is back in theatres with his first stand up show in 17 years. This comedy legend is in the Nuffield on 27th October. Tickets still on sale.

November

– November sees Never Mind The Buzzcocks team captain Phil Jupitus bring his You’re Probably Wondering Why I Asked You Here show to the Nuffield. Based on his standout 2012 Fringe show, this character based show comes on 2nd November. Tickets are still on sale.josh

– Josh Widdicombe, a standout on plenty of panel shows and one of the stars of The Last Leg, brings his Further Adventures of… show to the Nuffield on 9th November. This looks set to be a fantastic and hilarious show. Tickets are still on sale.

– Jeremy Hardy comes to the Nuffield on 15th November, brings his well honed comedy routine to Southampton. Some tickets are still available.

The Nuffield rounds up its comedy season with two great shows, The Comedy Bar – BIG GIGS on the 5th October and 18th January. These shows feature some great up and coming comedians – head along, and you might get to see the nest big thing!
