Fun, fresh and unfussy, the boys’ latest single is a cracker.

“I remember some days/We were singing our lungs out/in the backseat together.“ Keiran Shudall’s lyrics to ‘T-Shirt Weather’ could have come out of High School Musical, but with the joyful exuberance of Circa Waves’ music they work. The ode to teenage summers isn’t cutting edge; it’s not high art, and musically it’s simplistic, but it is fun, fresh and unfussy. From the opening riff to the infectiously catchy chorus, Liverpool’s Circa Waves are filling the gap left by the likes of The Kooks and The Wombats before them, and they’re doing it well.

‘T-Shirt Weather’ is out now via Universal/Virgin EMI.
