‘For You’ follows Fyfe’s mysterious one-off single ‘Solace’ and subsequent EP of the same name back in 2013; the time when no-one knew who Fyfe actually was. With the veil now dropped and Fyfe uncovered as British musician Paul Dixon, we are able to attribute the smooth souring vocals to him, rather than a cryptic pseudonym.
It’s impossible not to draw comparisons with the likes of SOHN and James Blake, all of which have embraced the simplistic electro sound. However, what sets Fyfe apart are the jazz influences in his music. Not only are his vocals as smooth as Jamie Cullum’s, the sax solo at the end of the track evidences jazz influence. Leading up to this the track is mediocre but the saxophone inclusion makes it more intriguing, but only slightly.
