One Direction – ‘Best Song Ever’

0

One Direction’s new single is modestly named ‘The Best Song Ever’, and although it doesn’t quite live up to it’s namesake, it is another hit single from the boys. It’s unlikely any song with a title like that would live up to its namesake (though I’m sure Directioners everywhere would disagree with me), yet this single is a great offering, with the usual teenage anthem chorus and overdriven guitar riffs. Although it is catchy (incredibly so), it’s fairly formulaic and repetitive. Yet it’s a fairly solid pop song, and with writers like Wayne Hector (who has previously penned hits for boy bands Westlife, JLS and The Wanted) and emerging singer songwriter Ed Drewett, you wouldn’t expect anything else.

The video, however, is something else. I’m sure it’ll delight 1D fans everywhere, with the boys dressed up as different characters talking about new ideas for the bands image (including Zayn In drag as the ‘sexy assistant’), intermingled with clips of the band touring the world. It’s really playing to what the fans want from the boys. Ending with a joke dance routine, followed by the band spray-painting ‘this is us’ on a photo of them, it’s everything a directioner could want in a video.

Although it’s not their best offering, I have no doubt this will top the charts across the world. And that it’ll be stuck in my head for the next week.
