As May draws to a close and summer truly is on the horizon, this week’s cinema holds a lot in store for us. Al Pacino returns to the screen in Danny Collins, and Simon Pegg stars alongside Ophelia Lovibond in this week’s go-to romcom, Man Up. Find the full release details below.

Exhibition on Screen: The Impressionists uncovers the story of art’s greatest revolutionaries. Brought to the screen from Musée du Luxembourg in Paris, National Gallery London and Philadelphia Museum of Art, it features work by Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Degas and Pissaro.

The Connection is an action-packed thriller that follows a French police magistrate, Pierre Michel, as he spends years trying to tackle on of his country’s most powerful drug rings.

Al Pacino and Jennifer Garner star in Danny Collins, the story of an ageing rockstar who decides to change his life for the better when he discovers a 40 year old letter written to him by the late John Lennon.

In The Dead Lands an entire tribe is slaughtered, and the son of the chief looks to avenge his father’s murder. The film follows him as he seeks to bring piece and honour to the souls of his loved ones.

Gadder The Traitor is a Punjabi suspense thriller. It centres on a business tycoon living in Canada, who is the richest Indian worldwide. Content with living life on the edge, his past eventually comes back to haunt him.

Set in rural Norfolk is this week’s coming-of-age drama, The Goob. The film tells the story of Goob Taylor, who constantly struggles with the brutal womanising Gene Womack for his mother’s attention and finds romance blossoming with a pretty foreign field worker.

Man Up stars Simon Pegg alongside Ophelia Lovibond. When the single Jessica is mistaken for a stranger’s blind date, she may just wind up finding her dream man in Jack.

Results comically follows the upending of two mismatched personal trainers’ lives as they have a new client on their hands: the recently divorced, newly rich, and very miserable Danny Corrigan.

Dwayne Johnson stars as a rescue-chopper pilot, Ray, in San Andreas. It centres on the aftermath of an earthquake in California, and sees Ray make the dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his lost daughter.

Another comedy for this week is Search Party. The film follows a pair of friends as they embark on a mission to reunite their friend with the woman he was going to marry.

Sword of Vengeance unfolds when subjects of a ruthless tyrant’s oppression discover an unlikely freedom fighter who may just be able to help them.

Timbuktu centres on a cattle herder and his family who live in Timbuktu. The family find their quiet life disturbed when they come head-to-head with the Islamic state that occupies the town, a collision that has disastrous repercussions.
