0

Cheryl Cole has received her fourth number one single with ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ which also features Tinie Tempah. As a result, she has become the third British female solo artist to gain a fourth number one single, following Rita Ora and Geri Halliwell. ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ follows previous number one singles ‘Call My Name’, ‘Promise This’ and ‘Fight for This Love’. Cole has so far released three albums – two of which topped the charts – making her upcoming album, Only Human, her fourth studio album. As well as promoting the upcoming album which has an expected release this November, Cheryl Cole will be appearing back on The X Factor UK despite the previous highly-publicised disagreements between herself and media mogul, Simon Cowell.

Elsewhere in the chart, MAGIC! jump a massive 48 places, landing in second place with their debut single, ‘Rude’. This knocks Ariana Grande’s ‘Problem’ down to fifth place, with Ella Henderson and George Ezra jumping one place each and settling at third and fourth respectively. Charli XCX and her single ‘Boom Clap’ are in sixth position, marking the single as Charli XCX’s first UK top ten single despite featuring in hit tracks of others, such as Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’.

will.i.am and Cody Wise are in seventh position, with Rixton and last week’s number one at position eight. Jess Glynne falls slightly to number nine, and Ed Sheeran finishes the top ten off with his previous number one, ‘Sing’.

Other new entries include MK’s ‘Always’ feat. Alana (Route 94 Remix) which enters the chart in 12th position, just missing out on a top ten spot. Neon Jungle’s ‘Louder’ debuts at 14.

In the album chart, this week’s biggest release was La Roux’s Trouble in Paradise which enters the chart in sixth position. Although released with critical acclaim, La Roux’s second studio album doesn’t perform as commercially as well as her debut, with her first self-titled album reaching second position back in 2009. Her first album also spawned the number one single ‘Bulletproof’ as well as ‘In for the Kill’ which reached second place. However, Trouble in Paradise‘s lead single ‘Uptight Downtown’ didn’t reach the UK top 40, and debuted at 63.

Ed Sheeran continues to hold onto the top spot for his fifth week. Sam Smith, Dolly Parton, George Ezra and Coldplay are also in this week’s album chart top ten.
