Following the unveiling of Tom Odell as winner of the 2013 Critics’ Choice Award a few weeks ago, and the news that Damien Hirst has designed this year’s BRIT statues, nominations couldn’t be far away.

The nomination event was held in London this evening, presented by Nick Grimshaw, with performances from Jessie Ware and Tom Odell. Emeli Sandé who won the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award in 2012 is unsurprisingly up for four awards for her album Our Version of Events, which was the biggest selling album of last year. Elsewhere Jessie Ware is nominated for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist, whilst Mercury Music Prize winners Alt-J are nominated for British Breakthrough Act, British Group, and Mastercard British Album of the Year for their debut An Awesome Wave.

Mumford & Sons are another act nominated for four Awards following the release of their sophomore record Babel last year. The Best British Live Act has been reintroduced for 2013 – having not featured since 2009 – and is dominated by male acts, as is the Best British Band category. The full list of nominations are detailed below:
