Macaulay Culkin will be bringing his band The Pizza Underground to Southampton in June.

The pizza-themed Velvet Underground tribute act gained recognition in December when the project was announced and a video of Culkin eating pizza was posted to YouTube. The band have rewritten many of the late Lou Reed’s tracks to revolve around pizza, including ‘Take a Bite on the Wild Side’ and ‘Pizza, It Hurts’.

The announcement was made earlier today on The Joiners’ official website.

Macaulay Culkin will perform at the venue alongside his four band mates, Matt Colbourn, Phoebe Kreutz, Deenah Vollmer and Austin Kilham. The group are reported to have formed in 2012 but have recently performed a number of shows in New York.

The 33-year-old rose to fame as a child actor featuring in films such as Home Alone and Uncle Buck. However, his acting career was reasonably short lived, only doing the occasional piece of television or film since 1994’s Richie Rich.

The Pizza Underground’s tour begins this month in the US, with the band playing at The Joiners on 5th June. Tickets go on sale this Friday (7th March).
