The sequel to Disney’s live action Alice in Wonderland has now officially started filming in England. Directed by James Bobbin (The Muppets), Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass will revisit Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories with an all-new tale that travels back to Underland and back in time. Tim Burton will still be involved as a producer.

Returning cast members include Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Helen Bonham Carter and Matt Lucas with voices by Stephen Fry, Barbara Windsor, Timothy Spall, Michael Sheen, Paul Whitehouse and Alan Rickman. However, the film boasts a hoard of new talented actors such as Ed Speelers (Downton Abbey) who will take on the role of James Harcourt, Sacha Baron Cohen (Hugo) as Time and Rhys Ifans (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 1) as Zanik Hightopp; the Mad Hatter’s father. There is also a new addition to the voice cast; Wilkins, who shall be portrayed by Toby Jones (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire).

This is the first time an official and complete cast list has been announced. Plot details of the sequel are still up in the air, with Burton’s first film using parts of Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass with its references to the chessboard as well as the use of the Jabberwocky.

The film is due for release May 2016. Watch the trailer for Burton’s Alice in Wonderland below.
