About Us

The Edge is the University of Southampton’s Entertainment Magazine. Created in 1995 as an insert of the Wessex Scene, the content, team and readership have grown ever since. The 2011/12 year was the first time the publication was printed separately, again enhancing the identity of the magazine. September 2013 saw a complete redesign of the magazine.

We cover everything there is to do with entertainment, from local gigs to film reviews, from exclusive interviews to professional theatre. The Edge has everything to keep you up to date with all the things you love about the media.

In the past, we’ve had press tickets to the likes of Lostprophets, Friendly Fires and Mumford & Sons, whilst we have been lucky enough to interview Marina & the Diamonds, Frank Turner, Tinie Tempah, and Feeder to name but a few. We’ve made appearances at various festivals including Bestival, Reading, V Festival, Great Escape, Beach Break Live and Truck Festival and attended the world premiere of The Disappearance of Alice Creed and Frankenweenie for free!

We’re always looking for new people to join the team who are passionate about writing, or just want to give something new a try. Please head over to our writers group for tips on becoming part of the team!
